Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump reignited his long-running feud with comedian Rosie O’Donnell, announcing online that he’s “giving serious consideration” to revoking her U.S. citizenship and urging Ireland to “keep her.” In his post, Trump called O’Donnell a “Threat to Humanity” and suggested she remain in Ireland, where she currently resides with her youngest child.

O’Donnell fired back on social media, calling Trump a “soulless man with dementia” and saying she moved abroad for safety and equality. She vowed not to return until “all citizens have equal rights.”

Despite the shockwaves the post sent across social media, legal experts say Trump has no constitutional power to revoke citizenship from American-born citizens. O’Donnell was born in New York, and her citizenship is protected under the 14th Amendment.

The Trump-O’Donnell feud dates back to 2006, when O’Donnell criticized Trump over his handling of the Miss USA pageant. The sparring has continued for nearly two decades, including Trump’s infamous “Only Rosie O’Donnell” remark during a 2015 GOP debate.

The latest blowup appears to stem from O’Donnell blaming Trump for staffing cuts at the National Weather Service—cuts she believes contributed to the recent deadly floods in Texas.
