On July 20, 2025, President Donald Trump reposted an AI-generated video to Truth Social showing former President Barack Obama being arrested in the Oval Office and later depicted in a prison jumpsuit. The video, originally created by TikTok user @neo8171, blends real clips of Democratic leaders declaring “no one is above the law” with digitally altered scenes of FBI agents dragging Obama away as Trump smiles nearby. The soundtrack includes YMCA and the theme from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Trump did not create the video himself and offered no caption or disclaimer when sharing it. The post quickly went viral, drawing criticism from both sides of the political aisle. Obama’s office declined to comment, while the Village People—whose song was used—issued a statement distancing themselves from the clip and seeking its removal.

The video’s release came just days after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard accused Obama-era officials of “manufacturing intelligence” to undermine Trump’s 2016 victory. Gabbard has pledged to refer her findings to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution.

Legal experts say the video is protected under free speech but warn that its spread could deepen political divisions and fuel misinformation. No reputable outlet has reported any actual legal action against Obama, and the video is widely recognized as artificial and satirical in nature.
