President Donald Trump took to the global stage yesterday to announce a “Complete and Total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran after 12 days of escalating conflict.

While Tel Aviv beaches reopened and Israeli jets turned back mid-flight, Tehran had other plans. Just hours after the ceasefire took effect, Iran’s parliament voted to fast-track a bill suspending cooperation with the UN’s nuclear watchdog, the IAEA. Their message? “We’ll pause the missiles—but not the enrichment.” Iranian officials claim their nuclear program will now accelerate, unmonitored and unrepentant.
Speaking from a NATO summit in the Netherlands, Trump doubled down on his claim that U.S. strikes had “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Intelligence reports, however, suggest the damage may have only set Iran back by a few months. Critics are calling it a “photo-op peace,” while supporters hail it as a diplomatic masterstroke. Both sides are claiming victory. Israel says it’s “removed the threat of annihilation,” while Iran insists it’s still standing—and enriching.
With Iran’s nuclear ambitions back in the spotlight and the ceasefire hanging by a thread, the world watches—and waits.
