President Donald Trump has filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal, its corporate affiliates News Corp and Dow Jones, and executive chairman Rupert Murdoch, following the publication of a report alleging that Trump once sent Jeffrey Epstein a sexually suggestive birthday card.

Filed in federal court in Miami, the lawsuit accuses the Journal of circulating “false, malicious, and defamatory” claims with no physical evidence—no card, no drawing, no signature. The article alleged that Trump, in 2003, authored a card containing cryptic birthday messages, a hand-drawn outline of a nude woman, and a signature placed provocatively below the image. The card was said to be part of a collection assembled by Ghislaine Maxwell and included contributions from other Epstein-linked figures.

Trump, now in his second term as President, fiercely denies the claim. “It’s a disgusting lie—never happened,” he said in a White House briefing, adding, “I don’t send cards, and I certainly don’t draw naked women.” His legal team seeks a full retraction, depositions from Murdoch and Journal staff, and injunctive relief barring future publication of related content.

Dow Jones says it stands behind the integrity of the story and plans to fight the lawsuit vigorously in court.

The controversy has ignited renewed scrutiny of Trump’s historic ties to Epstein, just as his administration signals support for releasing sealed records tied to the infamous financier. Meanwhile, internet culture has already transformed the so-called “Epstein Birthday Card” into a potent political meme.
